Commerce Elementary Administration
  • I am honored to be the Principal at Commerce Elementary School.  It is my pleasure to serve our learning community and contribute to a successful school year in any way I can.

I am a graduate of Whitewright High School.  I then attended East Texas State University in Commerce where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with certifications in Elementary Self-Contained Grades 1-8 and Elementary Life-Earth Science Grades 1-8.  I returned to Texas A&M University-Commerce and earned my Master’s in Elementary Education and my Administrative Certification.

I am beginning my 24th year in education.  My teaching career began in the eighth grade science classroom at Commerce Middle School, as well as coaching seventh /eighth grade girls’ athletics.  I transitioned to the elementary level after my first year where I spent eleven years teaching all subjects in the fourth grade classroom, a year with third, fourth and fifth grade students teaching a reading intervention program, and five years teaching math and/or science in fifth grade.  My last three years of teaching were completed in the sixth grade science classroom at Commerce Middle School.  This year will be my third year as assistant principal for Commerce Elementary School.

I am married to Michael Beane, a Commerce High School graduate, who owns his own business, Com-Tex Heating & Air Conditioning.  We have two daughters. Chelsey, a recent graduate of Commerce High School, attends Texas A&M University in College Station.  She is working toward a business degree from May’s Business School.  Cailynn, a freshman at Commerce High School, is a member of the junior varsity volleyball team and is also involved in dance.  My husband and I are proud of the education and experiences our daughters have received growing up in the Commerce community.

Commerce Elementary School provides a safe, child centered environment in which our students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Teachers and staff members are dedicated and committed to the success of every child. I look forward to working with all our stakeholders to provide support and interaction that contributes to a wonderful partnership between home, community and school, thus benefiting the children at CES.

  • I am honored to be the assistant principal at Commerce Elementary School. Originally from San Antonio, TX, I graduated from Lee High School.   I attended Southwest Texas State University [now Texas State] and earned my Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with certifications in Elementary Education 1-8 and Mathematics 1-8. Later, I returned to Texas State and earned my Master’s degree in Math Curriculum. Finally, I went to Texas A&M Commerce to earn my Administrative Certification.

This will be my 17th year in education. I started my career in Taylor, TX as an 8th grade Math/ Algebra teacher; then moved to Arlington, TX and taught 3rd grade all subjects and 6th grade all subjects. When my family returned to San Antonio, I taught 5th grade at Olmos Elementary. We moved to the Commerce area in 2013 where I taught 8th grade Math and Algebra for 4 years and my last year in the classroom I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math along with Algebra. This will be my first year as assistant principal at Commerce Elementary.

My husband is from Cumby, TX and is a former 1st Class Petty Officer in the US Navy. He currently works at L-3 Technologies as a Software Engineer. We have two children, Brandon and Rachel. They will both be enrolled at A.C. Williams in the Fall, Brandon in 5th grade and Rachel in 3rd. Brandon enjoys dinosaurs, Pokemon, and playing soccer. Rachel likes to bake and play the piano through the Texas A&M Commerce Piano Academy. We are proud of the excellent education they have received and will continue to receive in Commerce ISD.

Commerce Elementary has a strong community of leaders and learners. I am looking forward to being a part of this family and growing together as we continue this tradition of excellence.

  • "I believe that children come first. I believe that children deserve to be challenged. I believe the things we do best are the things we do together. I believe that kids' opinions matter. Children come first. I believe because I am the counselor." Roberto '99

This motto guides each day as I enter into the opportunities to serve the children, family and staff of CES. I have been a part of the CISD family for 23 years; as a classroom teacher for 4 years and counselor for 19 yrs. My formal education began in 1973 with a B.S. in Elementary Education with Kindergarten endorsement from East Texas State University; Masters of Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina (1977); postgraduate work towards a doctorate and a Counseling Certification from Texas A&M-Commerce (2002). I have taught early childhood, elementary and university students in Dallas, Oak Cliff, South Carolina and Texas and directed an early childhood center for 2-5 year olds.

I enjoy serving our community through volunteer work with First Baptist Church, Northeast Texas Children's Museum, Psychology Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Clothe-a-Child, Garden Club, Girl Scouts, Symphony League, CISD organizations and Kappa Delta during the 33 years that I have lived in Commerce.

Growing up in Garland, Texas and having grandparents in Wolfe City and just 'over the river' (between Bonham and Durant), I found attending college in Commerce to be a natural choice. The decision to move back to Commerce after graduate work and to remain here was a positive move for our family.

Rick, my husband of 43 years, and I have a daughter, Allison who is 31 years old. We have enjoyed raising Allison in Commerce and she attended CISD schools from kindergarten through high school. The education, encouragement and enrichment she received has equipped her to be successful at Texas A&M, College Station. Our Aggie finished her degree in English/Wildlife Conservation in May 2009. She went on to complete a MA degree in English at Texas A&M Corpus Christi in 2011. Recently, she completed her PhD in English at TAMU-C and is an Assistant Professor at Navarro College.
