Dual Credit Applications for Pride Prep

The Pride Prep program is set to begin its second year offering dual credit courses to advanced students in the Hunt County area.  Dual Credit courses, in the past, have been offered at the junior and senior levels; Pride Prep is unique in that it offers college credit to freshman and sophomores where they will attend class with students from other school districts.  Application to the program is limited to 8th graders but A&M-Commerce is offering a one-time opportunity for current 9th graders to apply to the program.  If your child is accepted into the Pride Prep program for the 2017-2018 school year, he/she will enroll in English 1301 in fall 2017 and English 1302 in spring 2018.  Your child will attend Pride Prep classes at Commerce High School on MondayWednesday, and Friday mornings at 7:30 a.m.  Pride Prep will not interfere with Band.

In order to be eligible for Pride Prep, candidates must:

1) Apply to Texas A&M University-Commerce as a dual credit student (ApplyTexas application)

2) Take Reading and Writing TSI exam and make minimum score

3) If minimum TSI score is made, candidates will complete a Pride Prep application/essay.

4) Candidates will be interviewed in May

There is no cost to apply.  Once the application has been processed by A&M-Commerce, your student will be eligible to take the TSI exams.  A&M-Commerce will be visiting Commerce High School next week to administer the TSI Reading and Writing exams.  CHS will post instructions to register and pay for the TSI (the cost is $8.50 per test).
