Free Public School Kindergarten

Commerce ISD provides free public school kindergarten to all students.

Counseling Services

Commerce ISD provides comprehensive counseling services. A certified counselor is located on each campus and mental health services for students and their families are provided in partnership with Texas A&M University-Commerce’s Psychology Clinic.

Some issues addressed by the clinic include:


Depression/mood disorders



·Relationship problems


·Low self-esteem

·Social skills development

·GLBT/sexuality issues

·Family communication/problem solving difficulties

Campus-Based Military Liaison

Mr. Earvin Larry is Commerce High School’s Military Liaison. Mr. Larry will be responsible for:

  • serving as the point of contact and working collaboratively between military-connected students and their families and the campus;
  • maintaining familiarity with enrollment processes, records transfer, existing community resources, and student supports;
  • ensuring military-connected students are identified and properly coded through the Texas Student Data System Public Education Information Management System (TSDS PEIMS);
  • determining campus-based supports and services available to military-connected students based on their unique needs, including their high mobility;
  • assisting in coordinating campus-based programs relevant to military-connected students; and
  • attending professional development or training annually to learn and understand topics related to the transition of military-connected students and their families.

BIOGRAPHY:  Earvin S. Larry

I teach in the Career and Technology  Education Department at Commerce High School.   I teach Robotics, Digital Media, Business Law, and Civics.  In the past I have coached basketball, track and cross country.

Before starting my teaching career, I spent several years in the U.S. Air Force and I’ve worked in Production Management in the Manufacturing Industry.  In addition, I’ve worked for several years as an Adjunct Instructor at Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas and as a curriculum writer for the University of North Texas in Denton.

My undergraduate degrees are from: The University of Maryland, (Liberal Arts) and Eastern Illinois University, (Occupational Education). I received my Masters Degree in Occupational and Human Resource Development from Abilene Christian University. 

In my spare time I enjoy Church, traveling, motorcycle riding, exercising and chess. I truly enjoy Teaching and Coaching and I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of our students.

I have  2 sons (Earvin Jr. and Quinton). Both are college graduates. Earvin Jr. works in management for an Aircraft manufacturing company and also serves in the Texas Air National Guard.  Quinton manages an Auto parts retail store.
